Please Read: Channel 12
Last September, the District was notified by the Town of Penfield that videos of Board meetings, school activities and announcements could no longer be broadcast on Penfield Cable Channel 12 due to equipment failure. Since that time, the Town Board has been considering its options, including whether or not to restore the station. The District has a collaborative relationship with the Town and has met with Town leaders to share our concerns over the loss of this important communication tool.

As a public entity, we are interested in transparency, and believe that Cable 12 is one important way that we share information with our residents. If you share this concern, and would like to see Cable 12 reinstated, we encourage you to call or email the Town Board to express your concern. For your convenience, we have a sample letter and Town Board contact information on our website at the following link:

Thank you for your ongoing support of our District.

John Piper, President

Penfield Board of Education

We Need YOUR Help
Target is discontinuing the Take Charge of Education program, which for Cobbles PTA means that we will no longer be receiving around $1000 a year from Target's donation. This is a program that the PTA has been supporting and asking our families, teachers, and staff to support by opening a RedCard, designating Cobbles Elementary and then shopping at Target. Please take a minute to sign the petition so we can let Target Corporation know that we want them to keep this program at our school and all the other 120,000 school this program supported in the United States.

IMPORTANT MESSAGES FOR PARENTS:
Open PTA positions:

One or more parent needed to chair the School Supply Program.  This volunteer would work with the school and with the vendor School Supply Kidz to arrange the school supply box sale at the end of this school year and distribution of the purchased boxes at the beginning of the 2016-2017 school year.  This program has been running for a few years now so should be pretty easy to run.  Orders can be all on line and distribution is at Supply drop off.  Please contact Kate McArdle if you are interested- kwmcardle79@gmail.com

If you consider yourself a person who pays attention to detail- we could use your help with our annual audit of the PTA finances.  This does NOT require accounting or auditing experience.  We need someone who can compare what is expected to what is practiced.  We have two other volunteers and just need one more.  Please contact Kirsten Elting if interested-  kirsten100711@yahoo.com

We all love a Star Reader!  This fantastic program will be starting up soon here at Cobbles and we need some volunteers to help get it started.  We need 1 or 2 volunteers for Book Collection at school on Monday 2/8 and 6-10 volunteers for packet assembly and book organization on 3/6.  Contact Mary Corcoran -info@marycorcoran.com for more info or see our volunteer spot sign up on the website.

PEACE Plan Photos:

The Cobbles PEACE Plan needs your help.  There is a collage being assembled in the cafetorium illustrating all the ways that Cobbles students put the PEACE Plan into practice.  But we need more photos!  If you have photos of students exhibiting the PEACE Plan behaviors, please send them to Principal Bavis, dbavis@penfield.edu.

Parent Pickup:

For changes to your child's normal transportation at dismissal, parents must call the school at 249-6500 before 2:30 pm.  Parents should not email teachers any dismissal changes without sufficient notice as teachers may not check their email during the school day.

Penfield School District Trauma, Illness and Grief (TIG) Teams

Children are affected more than we might assume by major and minor losses. Traumatic events and serious illnesses or deaths of family members and friends as well as members of their school family can have a profound impact on these young lives. Even tragic community events, not directly experienced by a child, can leave an indelible mark.

Did you know that each school within the district has a team of staff members who have been trained by Monroe County Office of Mental Health to help students who are experiencing issues related to trauma, illness and grief?

Click here for full details on the TIG Teams.
